Violinist
Catherine
Lindley was born in Pinner and studied at
Chethams’ Music School and the Royal Academy of Music.
Her teachers have included Jean Fiske, David Takeno,
Richard Deakin and Brien Stait. Catherine is enjoying
a varied career in music – highlights to date include
concerto performances with the Exeter Symphony
Orchestra and at the St. Judes’ Proms in London, a
concert tour to New York with Sir Elton John, and
chamber music performances at St. James' Church,
Piccadilly, the Cheltenham Festival and the Wigmore
Hall. Catherine performs regularly as part of a violin
duo for the Music in Hospitals scheme and has been
leader of the London Phoenix Orchestra since 2006.
In addition to her performing activities, Catherine has a
particular interest in teaching, and several of her pupils
have been awarded music scholarships and places in Pro
Corda's International Chamber Music Academy. She has also
taught violin and chamber music at Westminster School and
given masterclasses in Jersey. In 2005 Catherine
established the ‘Soundscapes’ chamber music series in
Pinner, which provides a platform for talented young
professional musicians.
